About Me
As a PR Consultant specializing in achieving social media-based objectives, both for firm and client promotion, key accomplishments range from developing firm-wide social media best practices to implementing SEO (search engine optimization) standards for an international technology client.
I launched my career as an independent international technology journalist, first with regional publications such as Canada Computes and verticals including Pen Computing, then with leading print and online publications ranging from CNET.com, GameSpot.com, and Maximum PC to The Washington Post, Fortune, and The New York Times. Having written for some of the best publications worldwide, I turned my attention to public relations, landing positions with two firms owned by one of the largest international media conglomerates.
At the first firm, I specialized in business-to-business start up’s in industries including security, telecommunications, and enterprise collaboration. I developed strategic and tactical plans, secured interviews with editors such as Michael Miller (PC Magazine), Stephen Wildstrom (BusinessWeek), and Hiawatha Bray (Boston Globe) and obtained coverage in publications as diverse as Inc. Magazine and ComputerWorld. As the primary source of social media related insights firm-wide, I also researched and developed the first company-wide blogging best practices report.
In the second firm, I specialized in three key areas. First, I drew from my extensive Internet research capabilities to provide competitive monitoring and industry analysis for an internationally renown computer manufacturer. Second, I was responsible for promoting the braintrust of one of the largest technology corporations worldwide. And, third, I consulted on social media issues, including participating in the team spearheading the development of a new, corporate blog.
Currently, I run Tech for PR, a tech-oriented public relations blog rapidly building a strong, steady, and highly targeted audience base. Once the blog achieves a critical mass of consistent visitors, I plan to continue to draw on my vast knowledge of a full range of online venues to achieve online research and social media goals on behalf of PR firms and their clients.
